Perfect Day

PERFECT DAY is a service for people living with dementia that comprises a series of activity cards based on over 75 “authentic” accounts of people living with dementia’s PERFECT DAY. The service is aimed at dementia care support workers and provides a range of achievable (but challenging) activities. In my observations of dementia care support workers, undertaken as part of my AHRC funded Design Research Fellowship with Alzheimer Scotland, they tend to repeat the same activities day after day and are pretty bored. I am Professor of Design Issues at Northumbria University School of Design. I hold undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Design from Middlesex University,London, and a PhD in Product Design Assessment from the University of Westminster, London.
